COLTERRIS Malbec originates primarily from grapes grown in Katie’s Vineyard and Scott’s Vineyard on East Orchard Mesa south of Palisade located on Colorado's beautiful and picturesque Western Slope. Situated approximately 100 feet directly above the Colorado River in the heart of the Grand Valley AVA, these unique cliff-side and hill-side vineyards are at approximately 4,785 feet in elevation and are protected by the foothills of the Grand Mesa immediately to the southeast and by close proximity to the Colorado River directly below. A deep, fruit forward styled wine with notes of spicy black currant and pepper. This combination of high altitude sunlight and cool river nights produce distinctively bold red wines, rich in color, flavor and smooth tannins.
The 2015 COLTERRIS Malbec is blended with 87.5% Malbec, 10% Petit Verdot and 2.5% Merlot. The Malbec grapes were harvested on October 3rd through 7th, the Petit Verdot grapes were harvested November 2nd and the Merlot grapes were harvested on October 12t.. The wine was aged in French and American oak barrels for 10 months. It was bottled in August 2015 with a total production of 972 cases. The wine has 13.8% alcohol, pH of 3.63, and TA (titratable acidity) of 5.6 g/L.
