COLTERRIS Cabernet Franc originates primarily from grapes grown in Katie’s Vineyard and Scott’s Vineyard on East Orchard Mesa south of Palisade located on Colorado's beautiful and picturesque Western Slope. Situated approximately 100 feet directly above the Colorado River in the heart of the Grand Valley AVA, these unique cliff-side and hill-side vineyards are at approximately 4,785 feet in elevation and are protected by the foothills of the Grand Mesa immediately to the southeast and by close proximity to the Colorado River directly below. This combination of high altitude sunlight and cool river nights produce distinctively bold red wines, rich in color, flavor and smooth tannins.
The 2015 COLTERRIS Cabernet Franc is blended with 84% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot, 6% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes were harvested on October 13th and the Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot grapes were harvested on November 2nd. The wine was aged in French and American oak barrels for 10 months. It was bottled in August 2015 with a total production of 758 cases. The wine has 14.2% alcohol, pH of 3.43, and TA (titratable acidity) of 5.6 g/L.
